Metropolitan Bank & Trust Company (MBT) was incorporated on April 6, 1962 to provide financial services to the Filipino-Chinese community. Since its formation, MBT has diversified its business and provides a broad range of banking and collateral services to all sectors of the Philippine economy. On August 21, 1981, MBT was granted a universal banking license by the Bangko Sentral ng Pilipinas.
MBT is engaged in all aspects of banking, financing, leasing, stock brokering, real estate, and insurance brokering. The Company provides products and services such as deposits, loans and trade finance, credit card products, programs and facilities, electronic banking facilities, cash management, domestic and foreign fund transfers, treasury products, remittances, institutional fund management, private banking, and trust services. MBT is also a participant in the Philippine foreign exchange market and is accredited as a government securities eligible dealer/broker. As of December 31, 2025, MBT operates 717 branches and a nationwide network of 1,734 Automated Teller Machines (ATMs).
MBT's significant subsidiaries include First Metro Investment Corporation, Philippine Savings Bank, ORIX METRO Leasing and Finance Corporation, and First Metro Insurance and Reinsurance Brokers, Inc.
